The film revolves around Sacha Cohen traipsing across the U.S and poking fun at social mores in his own inimitable way. It seems this film which has an unwitting cast of people who did not know at all that they were doing a film has invented a new genre.

It has also invited a spate of lawsuits from people who are not too pleased about being duped into acting for a film. Poor Borat is also being blamed for the divorce between Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson. Pamela has appeared in the film and her husband is not amused.

Borat has also invited the ire of the Gulf countries where it has been banned everywhere except Lebanon . The censor boards in the Gulf feel that if all the objectionable parts from the film are edited, there is less than half an hour of film left to see. Not worth it! So they have just banned it. Borat has set the cash registers jingling and grossed $ 67 million in a fortnight in the USA . Over at IMDB, it has been voted by fans as the 149th all time great film. Yes, you got that right. An all-time great film. That sets me thinking, a film that uses deceit, has explicit nudity and sex, has invited a swathe of lawsuits, is a classic – how did that happen?

The film has Borat ranting against Jews, interviewing unsuspecting people by conning them into believing that they are appearing in a documentary, paying them a paltry $ 150-$400 for their time, and also handing them a complex legal document at the last moment that sought to prevent them from complaining later on.
